Sun City Water level update after El Nino

I feel I have to share with you what Gloria Tipton – our District 8 Delegate – writes after last week storm :

Consider this:  Shut off your sprinkler system!  On Jan. 6 & 7, Sun City received almost 2 1/2 inches of rain.
That is according to my “rain gauge”.  My rain gauge is a 5 1/2 x 7 1/2 x 1 3/4 Pyrex glass pan.  That container overflowed.  I added a plastic container the size of a shoe box.  Now I am watching to see how long it takes for that water to evaporate!  My containers are in direct sun light!  I am assuming that the water in the containers will evaporate faster than the water in the soil.  I am estimating that there won’t be a need to run a sprinkler system for several more days!  We all should pay attention to how wet the soil is before using our sprinkler system!
I realize this isn’t rocket science.  Consider it more like a science project and applying common sense!
Create your own rain gauge!  I will keep you posted!
